What do you need to export a vehicle?
- Licence plate
- Mileage
- Registration Certificate
- Identification
Do you need an export declaration or export registration number?
The vehicle that you buy/sell is registered for export in the Dutch vehicle registration register of the RDW. You will then receive an indemnity certificate, an RDW export declaration and an export registration number.
The parts of the Dutch registration certificate / registration card are provided with an export stamp or a corner of the registration card is cut off. In combination with a Green Card (insurance) and an export registration number, it is possible to take the vehicle by road to the country of destination or to the port where it can be shipped to the country of destination.
Export license plate
When a vehicle registered for export/export will use the public road, or will drive to the country of destination, permission to drive on the road from the RDW is required.
When this permission is granted, this is stated on the printed Part II that is handed over by the Faay Auto Groep employee.
However, permission to drive on the road can only be granted if the vehicle still has a valid MOT. Should the expiry date of the MOT expire earlier, permission to drive on the road is valid as long as the MOT is valid.
The export registration plate consists of a white number plate with black numbers and letters. This registration number is the same as the Dutch registration.
